Ingredients

  • 500 g of boneless fish (basa or bhetki) fillets
  • 3 tbsp of oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp of chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp of soy sauce
  • Around 5 crushed dried red chilis
  • 6-8 finely chopped garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp of chopped ginger
  • 1 sliced onion
  • 2 tsp of cornstarch
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp of sugar
  • Refined oil
  • Chopped spring onions for garnishing

Method

  • To marinate the fish, coat it with a pinch of salt and cornstarch, and let it sit for about 15 minutes.
  • To prepare the sauce, mix chili sauce, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and a bit of water in a small bowl.
  • To fry the fish fillets, heat some oil in a pan. Fry the fillets until they are crispy and golden brown on both sides.
  • In that pan, sauté some chopped ginger, and garlic along with the crushed dried red chilis in oil.
  • Then add the chopped onions and sauté for another minute. Pour the mixed sauce and let it simmer on low heat for around 3 minutes.
  • Pour in the fried fish fillets and toss them gently in the aromatics and the sauce for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Then garnish with chopped spring onions and voila! You have your Chili Garlic Oyster Fish.
